Bettine Găgești Social Goat Farm

By taking over the Bettine goat farm in Găgești, Vaslui County, the Betania Association has expanded its portfolio of social economy projects, which also contribute to supporting the projects run by the organization.

Established in 2007 as a social project, the farm benefits from all modern facilities, with products meeting the highest quality standards.

Currently, the farm produces fresh and aged cheese, and a series of delicacies such as cheese with walnuts, with dill, spreadable cheese, cheese in paraffin, and goat milk cheese. All these products are organic, of high quality, and affordable, and the recipes are of Dutch origin.

The Bettine Goat Farm employs 5 people who take care of the animals and the production of milk and dairy products. One of the short and medium-term goals is to increase the number of animals on the farm and, implicitly, to increase and diversify production. Thus, from approximately 100 goats at present, a target of approximately 150 goats has been set by the end of 2022. This spring, over 50 kids were born, which will reach a weight of over 40 kg by autumn and will thus enter milk production.

It should be mentioned that, since its establishment, Bettine Farm has been dedicated to people with disabilities. This mission is continued, and 11 such cases benefit from occupational therapy at the farm. These are residents of the Protected Living Facility in Găgești, a unit of the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection Vaslui. They help with the daily work on the farm (cleaning, feeding the animals, etc.) and, in addition to the opportunity to interact with each other and with other people and farm animals, they are also rewarded with organic products twice a week.
